The Tarsheed Teacher Training Program held its second training workshop in Qatar, titled “Concept-Based Inquiry in Action” delivered by educational consultant Ms. Ghada Maalouf on Friday and Saturday, January 16–17, 2026. The workshop brought together a group of teachers and educational supervisors from various grade levels.
The workshop, hosted at the Arab International Academy – Lusail, was attended by 25 participants from different schools. Each participant received a copy of the book Concept-Based Inquiry in Practice, published by Tarsheed Educational Publications and authored by Carla Marschall and Rachel French, translated by Haifa Abu Al-Nadi.
The workshop aimed to equip teachers with the skills to use concept-based inquiry as an effective approach to deepen student engagement and enhance their understanding of knowledge in meaningful and relevant ways. Through practical models and interactive activities, participants explored how to design learning units based on key concepts and how to guide students toward developing deep and lasting understanding.
The workshop also addressed ways to promote transferable understanding across disciplines, enabling students to apply what they learn in real-life contexts while strengthening their critical thinking and inquiry skills.
By the end of the workshop, teachers were able to apply the principles of concept-based inquiry in their classrooms through practical strategies that support active learning and long-term understanding.
