This book focuses on teacher training in light of evolving competencies and emerging developments, with the aim of supporting meaningful professional growth. It presents carefully designed models for both face-to-face and online training, while also exploring the role of open educational resources in supporting teachers’ ongoing professional development.
Towards an Effective Teacher in Face-to-Face and Online Education offers a range of insights and experiences shaped by the transformations brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic across different areas of life. The pandemic significantly impacted the role of teachers, as education systems worldwide shifted toward remote learning as a precautionary measure. This shift placed increased emphasis on online teaching and learning, with all its opportunities and challenges.
Despite its negative impacts, the pandemic served as a major catalyst for the transition to online education. It reinforced the need to move beyond traditional face-to-face instruction toward more flexible learning models, while also highlighting the importance of strengthening infrastructure, resources, and human capacity—particularly through the professional development of teachers and the enhancement of their competencies. This transformation has enabled teachers to adapt to rapid changes in educational approaches and to move toward more innovative and creative practices.
The book spans 256 medium-format pages and is organized into three chapters. The first focuses on pedagogical training based on teacher competencies and educational projects. The second explores online training, its challenges, and applied models, including the Hamdan model for online training. The third examines open educational resources, their role in continuous professional development, and examples of their development, including the Ghosheh model for designing open educational resources.
This book is the result of collaboration among a group of experts in teacher training, bringing together their shared professional experiences and research. The studies presented aim to serve as guiding models for effective teacher training in both face-to-face and online contexts.
